TOPIC: Co-Buying in Colorado
SPEAKERS: Sarah Wells, Queen City Cooperative

SPEAKER BIO: Sarah Wells is an enthusiastic connector and advocate for stronger community. A resident of Denver since 2006, Sarah spent her early career working with social impact businesses and nonprofits. Sarah began her foray into real estate in 2015, when she co-founded the Queen City Cooperative, a limited equity cooperative in Capitol Hill. A leader in cooperative housing both locally and nationally, Sarah also serves as board President for the Boulder Housing Coalition and on the board for NASCO Development Services, a national housing group focused on creating more cooperative housing. Sarah is passionate about empowering people and businesses through ownership, and thrives in finding creative solutions and spaces.

About Queen City: Queen City Cooperative aims to provide affordable housing options through a shared-equity, cooperatively-owned corporation. Recognizing that the housing market in Denver is increasingly unaffordable, we support the development of alternative models, and we advocate for the economic and political legitimization of cooperatives in Colorado.  Queen City believes that the cooperative model not only fosters individual wealth and responsibility, but also builds community wealth and responsibility. They are working to create a local network of mutual aid.

SESSION INFORMATION: Join Sarah Wells for an introduction to community housing and co-buying. As the average first time homebuyer age climbs higher and reports of loneliness and social disconnection increase, new buyers are looking at ways to earn equity together. Learn about the various forms of community housing developing nationally and how co-buying can be an inspiring and practical solution for folks feeling priced out of the market and craving more community in their housing options.
